Getting started with Journal Entries

In the Accounting work area in Mamut Online you can register journal entries - anywhere and anytime: You can define e.g. different types of invoices, stock movements and journals in different currencies.

Via the Journal Entry Card and the Journal List you can add and edit journal entries and transfer them to the Nominal Ledger in Mamut Business Software. Both windows are easy to use and based on existing functionality in Mamut Business Software.

Chart of accounts

You can start making journal entries immediately after getting access to the work area. The Journal Entry comes with the settings and adjustments of your chart of accounts assigned in Mamut Business Software.

Also if you are a new customer of both Mamut Online and Mamut Business Software you will have some pre-defined settings in place that allow you to work with your business' journal entry in an easy and efficient manner. During the installation of Mamut Business Software, a default Chart of Accounts was installed, including all N/Cs used for standard accounting.

Access rights

The functionality has been created for accountants and their clients who want to collaborate through Mamut Online to exchange information about journal entries. To make the functionality easy-to-use for both user groups, there is one access profile for each of them. By selecting the correct access profile, you will get an user interface which is optimised for your accounting tasks.

You can adjust the user profiles via Settings - Account Administration - User Administration.

Access Templates

The Super User access template gives access to all functionality. Users with this profile will be able to transfer journals into the General Ledger in Mamut Business Software. We strongly recommend to use this template only for users with advanced accounting knowledge.

The Accounting access template gives the user access to register journal entries. Users who have this access template assigned, will not be able to transfer journals into the General Ledger in Mamut Business Software. Users with this access template can only see their own journals.

User-defined access

Alternatively, you could also assign individual access rights to the user of this work area by selecting the User-defined access. In the matrix, select Custom access in the Accounting line and click Edit. You can now define, which access rights the user shall have:

Journal Entry: The user is allowed to enter the Journal Entry card and register journal entries.

Transfer to General Ledger: The user can transfer registered journals to the General Ledger in Mamut Business Software.

Company Dashboard: The user can access the work area Company Dashboard.

Show journals for all users: The user has the possibility to show the journals that were registered by all other users.

User Settings

You can adjust the windows in this work area via the User Settings for Accounting under Settings - User Settings - Accounting. Read more in User settings for Accounting.
