How to Install a Client/Workstation Version

Note! Before installing, you should consider the following points:

- That you have closed all other applications.
- That you know if you should install the program files from a CD or from a folder within your network.
- That you have received information about which database server you should connect to.
   (Not applicable if you are installing from a folder within your network. A dedicated file containing predefined settings will make sure that you are connected to the correct database server).
- That you have received user name and password for login.

 

1  Installation from CD:

Insert your Mamut Business Software CD into your CD/DVD drive or download the program from our home page.

1  Installation with Client Installation Set:

 

. Open Windows Explorer and locate the folder containing the installation files (ask your system administrator for the location of this folder.

 

Double click the setup.exe file to launch the installation wizard.

 

If you are using the Client Installation Set you can go directly to step 6.
 

2  Select Country: 

Select country United Kingdom.

 

The program has available versions for a range of other countries in Europe. 

 

3  Welcome: 

Select Install Mamut Programs under Installation.

 

4  Select which program you wish to install:

Select the program according to your licence.

 

Mamut Business Software automatically prepares the installation program InstallShield Wizard, which will take you through the installation process.

 

This process can take some time.
 

5  InstallShield Wizard complete: 

Click Finish.

 

You will subsequently get the installation wizard for Mamut Business Software.

6  Welcome: 

Click Next in the Welcome Window.

 

7  User Agreement:

The User agreement must be accepted before the installation can be completed.

 

If you wish to continue, indicate so by selecting I accept the terms of the above user agreement. Then click Next

 

8a  Select the installation type:

In the next window you are able to select the installation type Client/Workstation.

Advanced settings: Check this box if you want to customise the location to which the program files will be installed to.

Proceed to Point 9 if you do not want to change the default file path.

Client Installation Set: If you install with client installation set, you are not able to change the installation type.

Click Next to continue.

8b  Advanced settings:

If you selected the Advanced settings option in the previous window, you will be able to customise the program file path. We recommend that you use the default values.

Click the search button and navigate to the location where you want to install the program files. Click OK.

Reset default path: Click this button if you want to revert back to the default file path.

Note! The program files must be installed on each computer that will be running the program. The program files cannot be installed on any of the following locations: mapped drives, network resources (UNC file paths), USB flash drives or compressed folders.

Click Next to continue.

9  Connect to the Database Server:

In this window you can choose which database server you wish to connect to.

 

Click Next to search for a database server in your network.

Alternatively, you can also enter Servername\Instance manually in the field below if you are familiar with the information.

 

Client Installation Set: If you install with client installation set, you are not able to change the installation type. Click Next to continue to Step 11.

10 Select Database Server

If the server installation is set up correctly, the system will now find the database server. There can also be other database servers in the network. Select the correct database server from the drop-down list.

 

If the system does not find any database servers, this may be because you do not have access to the server computer in the network. Contact the system administrator in order to solve this before continuing.

 

Click Next.

 

11 Start installation: 

The installation wizard's last step displays an overview specifying the location the Program files will be installed to, which Database server will be used, and where the Database files can be found.

Click Install to start the installation or click Back if you wish to change any of the settings.

 

The system checks if you have open applications that need to be closed.

 

Close the necessary applications and click Retry if you receive a message regarding this.
 

12 The Program is installed: 

The program uses Microsoft® SQL Server® database software. If you have not installed a Microsoft SQL Server version already, the installation wizard will install a free version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition.

Your Mamut system will now be installed and the program files will be saved to the specified location.

 

This process may take some time. It is important that you do not cancel this process.

 

13 The Installation Wizard is complete:

Click Finish to complete the installation.

 

We recommend that you restart your computer before you continue.

 

14 Start the program:

Start Mamut Business Software by clicking the shortcut on the desktop or from the Start menu. The startup wizard will then appear for first time startup.

Client Installation Set: If you are installing with Client Installation Set you will now be taken directly to Login.

 

15 Select the version :  

Select Connect me to an existing multi-user installation and click Next.

 

You can see which database server you connect to by clicking Select database server. In this window you can also test if you have access to the server.  

16 Select the Installation: 

If there are multiple databases on the server, you will receive a list over all of the existing databases.

 

Select the database, and click Next.

17 Login: 

Log in with the user name and password that you have received from your system administrator, and click OK.  
 

Complete:

The system is now set up, you have logged in and can now begin using the program.
