Accounting Settings: Cost Centres

View - Settings - Accounting - Module Settings - Cost Centre

In the Cost Centre window, you can create cost centres belonging to a new, self-defined, cost centre group. Self-defined cost centres can be used when registering journal entries in the Journal Entry module. In addition, you will also have the possibility to use the pre-defined cost centres Department and Project. In the user settings for journal entry, you can choose to display the column for your self-defined cost centre in the journal entry window.

Other examples of cost centres are campaigns, products, employees, complaints, packaging material and shipping damages.

Note! You can create one extra cost centre group in Mamut Enterprise E5. By purchasing a licence for the additional product Mamut Cost Centre, you are able to create up to four user-defined cost centre groups (three in E5).

To the right of the drop-down list select Register, you can click the Edit button in order to change the name of the cost centre group. Every cost centre group can contain as many cost centres as you wish.

The New button lets you create a new cost centre in the cost centre group indicated in the drop-down list above.

The Edit button lets you edit the name of any cost centre.

Click Delete to delete the selected cost centre.

Note! Extra cost centres are only accessible when registering a journal entry in the journal entry module. Journal entries registered via other modules will not automatically be linked to these user-defined cost centres. They will instead be linked to the standard cost centres Project and Department. You can change the cost centre of a journal entry in the Ledger and Financials/Journal list by selecting the journal entry and clicking Edit.

Tip! You are able to display cost centre information, in the same way that you would for Project or Department, within journals that have been transferred to the nominal ledger. To do so, simply tick the relevant boxes within the Settings for the nominal ledger.
