Using Currency Accounts

To enter a receipt/payment from a currency account, use the toolbar for journal templates, which activates via the user settings. Read more about User settings.

When using a currency account, use the same exchange rate for the payment as is on the invoice - this is the only way to close the item correctly without a difference resulting. The important thing is to post the correct number of currency units.

How to enter a receipt/payment from a currency account

  1. Click the Receipts button if this is a receipt and Payments if it is a payment.

  2. Select the customer/supplier for which you want to make a payment.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Enter the correct Payment date and select the currency account in the N/C field.

  5. From the list displayed, select the invoice against which you want to make a payment. Enter the correct amount in the Paid field and any fee in the Charge field. Paid, Charge and Total amount must all be in the same currency - the currency code will be behind the amounts and cannot be changed.

  6. Click OK and OK.

The payment journal entry has now been made and can be transferred to the Nominal ledger and Customer ledger/Supplier ledger.

To make a payment to a currency account in the Customer ledger or Supplier ledger, follow the directions outlined in the topic here and select the currency account in the N/C field.
