Working with Journal Entries


In the Accounting work area you are able to create, edit and delete journal entries which are not yet transferred to the General Ledger Mamut Business Software.

Note! There might be restriction based on your access profile. Only super users and those with the individual access right View journal for all users can edit and delete all journal entries. Whereas if you have the Accountant access template, you can only edit or delete you own journal entries.

How to create a journal entry

  1. In the top menu, select New - Journal Entry.

  2. First, you enter the general journal information, such as  Journal Type, Transaction Date and the accounting Period. If you miss the appropriate journal type, you can add it via the accounting settings in Mamut Business Software. Read more here.

  3. Now, you add the single journal lines. The first two lines for account and counter account are pre-added. In case you need more lines, you can add them via Add new line.

  4. Enter all necessary information. You will find more information about the regarding fields here.

  5. Click on Save & Close to be redirected to the previously accessed page
      -or-
    click on Save & New if you wish to register another journal entry.

  The journal entry has now been registered.

Controlling and editing journal entries

  1. Open Lists - Journals and choose the referring journal entry from the list.

  2. Click Edit to open the journal entry.

  3. If necessary, enter changes. You will find more information about the content of the fields here.

  4. If you have changed the journal entry: Choose one of the Save options.
    If you haven't changed the journal entry: Click Cancel & Close.

The journal entry can now be transferred to the Nominal Ledger in Mamut Business Software . Read more here.

How to delete a journal entry

  1. Open Lists - Journals.

  2. Select the check-box next to the journal entry/-ies you want to delete.

  3. Delete the journal entry/-ies.

The journal entry/-ies are now completely deleted from Mamut Online.
