You can offer discounts on each individual product based on various criteria:
According to Category (e.g. discount for distributors only).
For a specific Contact, or based on Quantity (the amount that the customer is buying).
The Quantity discount can be defined using Step or From first number.
You can enable different discount types in the company settings for products. Read more about Company Settings for Product.
If you select Step, you can, for example, decide that the first 500 units of the product are to be sold at a 5% discount, whilst the next units up to 1000 are to be sold at a 7.5% discount.
If you set the discount From first number, the whole stock will be sold at a 7.5% discount.
Click New in the Category tab if you wish to create a discount. The Discount window opens.
Discount in %: Price deduction in percent.
Fixed Price: Define the price that will be used. By default, the new price will override the sales price.
Note! If you use a Fixed
Price, the system will by default, select the lowest version of
the Fixed Price in the discount
register and Sales Price in the
price calculator. You can override the price in the company settings for
product, so that the fixed price acts as a mark-up.
You follow the same procedure when you wish to enter a discount based on Contact or Quantity.
Discount types
Discounts can be registered on several different levels. These discount types are organised in a hierarchical system which means that they override one another. Under normal circumstances, only one discount will ultimately be used.
Discounts based on the combination of product and customer (can be set in this tab).
Standard discount in % of the total order for a customer (can be set in the Contact register).
Discounts based on the combination of product and contact category (this tab).
Discounts based on the combination of customer category and product group (can be set in the Discount register).
Quantity discounts for each product (can be set in this tab). Quantity discounts must be enabled in the company settings for product. In the company settings for Sales/Invoicing, you can also choose to use quantity discount in addition to other discounts.
The Discount register can be opened
from the toolbar in the product register.
Note! If you have defined a fixed price
for a customer, the discount will be used if the customer also belongs
to other product discount groups.
