Creating/Editing Journal Templates
View - Accounting - Journal Templates
Journal templates are created using a wizard which guides you through all relevant settings.
Before starting the wizard, it could be a good idea to draft how each journal will appear as well as plan the required input values.
The program comes with several journal templates, which you may use as a starting point for creating your own. Instead of creating a new journal template, you simply duplicate the existing one and edit it with the help of the wizard.
How to create a Journal template
- Select View - Accounting - Journal templates.
- Select New if
you want to create a completely new template.
If you can use an existing template as a basis, select it and click Duplicate. A new template will be generated with the same settings and added to the list. Select it and click Next. - Decide on the journal type:
Select Single journal if you want to create a template for one journal.
Select Accounting for prepayments if you want to create the template for a set of prepaid journals over several months. Read more in Creating/Editing Journal Templates - Accounting for Pre-payments. - Enter the journal template Name and the Description.
- Select the Group. This type of sorting is only valid for the list of journal templates. If needed, you can add a new group via the button next to the list.
- Select the check box Will be shown for journal entry if the template shall be available via the Journal template toolbar or list in the Journal Entry register.
- Select Follow active journal if the journals which will be created based on this template shall inherit the journal type, the transaction date and the period from the current journal.
- Click Next.
You have now defined the general settings of the template. In the next step you will define the template's parameters and values.
