Journal Templates

In companies of a certain size there will usually be several similar journal entries entered with small variations. Journal templates allow you to enter the variable information and create one or more journals from the specified template. Typical examples for where you can profit from journal templates are invoice repeating, accrual accounting for rent or depreciation on investments.

Pre-defined templates

Your database contains a range of pre-defined journal templates. Some of them are so-called system templates. They are different from the other templates, because it is not possible to change them. All other pre-defined templates can be edited and thus adapted to your company's needs.

User-defined templates

In addition you can create own journal templates. It is up to you to decide whether you create a journal template from scratch or one that is based on an existing template.

Via the import/export functionality you can import templates from other company databases or make your own templates available in other databases.

Activation

The function is activated through the user settings under the Function tab. You can choose to display a separate drop-down list of available journal templates in the Journal entry module (Drop-down list for Journal Templates) and/or activate the Journal Templates Toolbar that provides separate buttons in the Journal Entry window. These buttons are shortcuts to various journal templates. This changes the journal entry somewhat and many customers use of this function for their most commonly used journals. Read more about activating the journal template tool bar here.
