Downloading System Updates

Every now and then the software provider offers a system update, available for download via the Internet. To download these updates you use the database utility Download System update files. Please note that this function is only available to the system administrator. Read more about updating to a new version here.

In this function's wizard you select to download the update from the Internet. This will lead you to a window displaying the system updates available.

Note! Please be aware that some of these system updates are not being installed automatically but need to be run from the location you download the files to.

Information about available system updates can be found in the regular marketing communication from the software provider, such as the Mamut Information Desk, Mamut Usermail and Mamut Support Centre.

System updates update the log files with information about which functions have been downloaded, the date, time, user and update number.

How to download a new system update

  1. Take a backup of your system.

  2. Go to File - Database utilities - Download System update files

  3. Select Download and install the file from the Internet and click Next. The next window will show which update(s) will be downloaded. All updates shown here will be downloaded.

  4. Click on Next to download the update(s).

  5. Specify where you want to store the files.

The files will be stored in the location you have specified. When you click OK the program closes. The update will commence automatically if it only contains one file. If there are several files, the explorer will open the folder where you have saved the files.  Install the update by double-clicking on the file. Should there be several files, you will need to run the update several times. For multi-user installations, the system administrator must log off all users and update the server first, before the individual user computers get updated.

Tip! If you are not connected to the Internet, some of the updates may be available on a disk. You use the same menu selections to import the update files from the disk but you will need to select Read file from a disk, CD or your hard disk for step 3 above.
