The Administrator Focus Area on the Desktop

The user or users that are to administer the system will a number of tasks, which vary according to the total number of users and the functions in use. The functions that are gathered under Administrator focus on users and security, amongst them backup, so that you can administer access and user rights to the system, as well as securing the proper backup of your data. In addition, you will also find shortcuts to the company database settings - the settings common for the company database, the properties register, which contains a number of registers the system's functions are built on - and to the accounting settings.

Who is the system administrator?

The system requires that at least one user is assigned Full access/Super user status in the user profile. You can read more about access templates and user administration in the chapter on security here.

Backups

The importance of backups can never be re-iterated enough. The user, or the responsible person for the system, is responsible for establishing a routine for backing up data files himself/herself. The frequency for taking backups depends on how often the program is being used and the manner in which it is being used. As a rule of thumb, backups should be taken at the end of every day when you are done working in the program. You can read more about backups in the chapter About backup here.

Settings

The shortcuts from this focus area lead to the Company database settings and the Accounting settings, which are often typical work areas for administrators.

Remember as well that you can always access the main settings window from the desktop toolbar.

The desktop can be customised so as to display information and shortcuts to match your use of every focus area. See the below links for more information on how to adjust the desktop to match your program use.
