The mobile service solution in Mamut ServiceSuite requires that certain settings are configured. In addition, your mobile phone or personal digit assistant (PDA) must be capable of connecting to the Internet.
How to configure and activate the service settings
To allow users access to calendar, customers and inventory via their mobile, data must be synchronised or exchanged at regular intervals.
Click the Settings drop-down bar - Settings - System - Scheduled Tasks in order to display the Service settings screen.
The various synchronisation services offered by Mamut ServiceSuite are listed in this window and are as
follows:
Automatic exchange of data with ServiceSuite on the Internet:
Exchange of customers
Exchange of planning
Exchange of products
Exchange of time registration
Import e-stock levels
Online update e-stock levels
Mamut Enterprise Integration tasks:
Transfer of customers from MBS to MSS
Transfer of customers from MSS to MBS
Transfer of products from MBS to MSS
Transfer of products from MSS to MBS
Each service must be activated individually, as described below and
the status of the service will be
displayed within the status box for each service within the screen.
Highlight and then right-click on the service and select Configure to display the Configure service task window. Alternatively, you can select the service and then click Configure task to the right of the window.
Click the arrow to the right of the Runs field to display the drop-down menu. Here you can select the frequency of the synchronisation. Several options are available, but for real-time (instant) synchronisation, select Every time it is required. Selecting this option will ensure that whenever a relevant change occurs within Mamut ServiceSuite, it will be immediately updated and the new information will be accessible online or on a compatible mobile device.
Click the arrow next to the Handled by field to display the drop-down menu. Here users must select the name of the PC they wish to synchronise with the Mobile Service. By default, the name of the current machine will be available for selection. Select the Name of the PC and then click Next if further specification of the execution details are required or Finish if ready for completion.
A dialogue box will be displayed informing you that
the service is currently deactivated and asking whether the task should
be activated now. Click Yes.
The Service settings screen
will now show that the service is Active.
Repeat this process for each of the services that are required to be
accessed via mobile devices, usually all services are required. In the
case of Import
e-stock levels and Online update
of e-stock levels, these services can only be activated by users
with a valid e-commerce licence.
Once each service has been activated in this way, click Reset data on the Internet at the top of the Service Settings screen.
Click Yes in the dialogue box that appears to confirm that you wish to reset all data on ServiceSuite mobile.
Finally, click the Start
Service button next to the Reset
data on the Internet at the top of the Service
Settings screen.
Tip! If you experience
problems starting the service here, you are able to activate it manually.
To start the service manually, go to Start - Run
and enter
services.msc, then click OK.
In the list that appears select Service
Suite Service and right-click
on it and select Start. The service has now been activated and
you will be able to login online.
Click Yes in the in the dialogue box that appears to confirm that you wish to start the service on your computer.
The Mobile Service is now fully configured
and ready for use.
Note!
Synchronising is created as a real Windows-service and therefore only
works from new versions of Windows (XP or newer versions). In a typical
network installation the server manages all data exchange between Mamut ServiceSuite
and the Internet, but it is possible to run synchronising from different
computers.
Note!
The same task should not be active on more than one computer in the network
as this could lead to errors in the system.
The entire service can be stopped at any time by clicking Stop Service, at the top of the Service settings screen. Each service can also be stopped individually by right-clicking the service and then selecting the Deactivate. When successfully stopped, the service will appear highlighted.
