A product can be sold in different variations of the same product, for example in different colours and sizes. To administer this more easily, you can register a main product and link the variation to it. This way it will be easier to purchase products from your suppliers, decide on the differing information per variation, receive help with building product names automatically and enter orders with different variations of a product.
It is also possible to sell products with variations in the web shop.
Note! To make use of this functionality, you need to have purchased a licence in some program version.
How to start using variations
In order to activate product variations you need to have a program version with a licence that includes this feature, and you need to have selected that The Company has products that are sold as variations in the Product module under the Customisation of functions tab.
You can also select Default settings for products with variations to simplify creating new product variations.
A variation can have up to two different variation attributes. Variation attributes can include colour and size, for instance. Variation attributes are defined from the properties register. Each type can have different variation values, which you also define through the properties register.

When this is complete you can tick the main product box 'Product has variations in the Variation tab' in the Product register.
Note! The main product cannot be used as a separate product when it has variations.
In the Variation settings you can decide which values will differ for the product variations. You decide how the product name for the variations will be built up, making product variations easier and to build a uniform product register for them.
Through Variation settings you also define which variation attributes are to apply to the main product.
Tip! You can edit previously created products by using the Change value for a selection of products wizard. Under the Variation tab you can change variation attributes and product name building. You can also change stock and location for variation products which vary in the warehouse. Updating a Selection of Products
Variations on Sales orders, Quotations and Purchases
In User Settings for Product you can choose to open a variation matrix to give you a complete overview of available variations, warehouse status and purchase holdings for the different variations, as you register quotations, orders and make purchases.
Other settings
You can select whether you want the Product list to show variations as products in the list. You do this by clicking on the User settings in the Product Register, or from the product list by selecting Show variations in the list of products. (For many this will make the product list very long and the setting is not activated as default.) You can see the variations at the bottom of the product list, where you will also find a drop-down list that will show all linked variations.
