How to use the Summary Analysis Dashboard

Accounting Rules Report

Information about breaches of the accounting rules. Accounting rules are the tests which Mamut Validis applies to your accounting data to examine the basic logical accounting principles that should be evident in your accounts. These are designed to ensure that your financial statements are properly constructed, and that only expected behaviour is recorded for each transaction. Examples might include checking that an account closes in the correct position; checking that purchase and sales transactions are recorded in the correct accounts; and ensuring that there are no unexpected debit or credit entries in accounts where they should not be. Mamut Validis reports any breaches of these rules as potential anomalies and groups them according to the relative importance of the rule.

Trends Report

The Mamut Validis trends examine your accounting data in order to identify areas where a transaction falls outside of the usual trend of data for its nominal account.

Trend rules look at the aggregate value of the transactions that go through a nominal code in each period. If the total value of transactions is significantly different to that which occurred in the previous period, or the average, the trend is deemed to have broken. Examples might include, a sudden increase in entertainment expenses in one month, or a month in which wage costs were lower than usual.

Exceptional Values Report

The percentage of all transactions that are considered exceptional.

As part of its analysis of your accounting data, Mamut Validis looks at each and every transaction within the entire data set it has taken from your accounting software. It analyses each individual transaction within a nominal account in order to identify any credit or debit values which are exceptionally large, when compared to the other values within the account, or those that fall outside of the normal range. For example, if typical sales are around £500 per transaction, a single sale of £1000 would be identified as exceptional.

Unusual Combinations Report

Information about any unusual combinations of data found in your transactions.

The Unusual Combinations analysis examines the value of every field within every transaction line and identifies the most common combination of field values. Other combinations are reported as being unusual. For example, this analysis would identify inconsistent application of VAT codes in a particular nominal code or an unusual transaction type in a particular nominal account.
