VIA must be disabled for the instance

VIA is an old protocol which is deprecated by Microsoft. It should therefore be disabled.

How to disable VIA for the instance

  1. Complete the installation of Mamut Business Software, but do not open the program for the first time startup wizard.
  2. Once done, go to Start - All programs - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 - Configuration Tools - SQL Server Configuration Manager.
  3. Expand the group SQL Server Network Configuration.
  4. Click on Protocols for MAMUT.
    Note!
MAMUT is the default name for the instance and is suggested during the installation. If you have chosen another instance, you need to replace MAMUT with the name you have chosen.
  5. Right click on VIA and select Disable.
  6. Click on SQL Server Services.
  7. Right click SQL Server (MAMUT) and select Start or Restart.
  8. Close SQL Server Configuration Manager.
  9. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the Mamut.ini. You will find this via the following path:
In Windows Vista and older: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Public Mamut\Mamut.
    In Windows 7 and newer: C:\Users\Public\Public Mamut\Mamut.
  10. Open Mamut.ini and add the line: Server=(local). If you already have a line with Server=, add (local).
  11. Close and save Mamut.ini.

VIA is now disabled for the instance. You can start the program and run the first time startup.
